Members of the library board voted unanimously on Wednesday evening to name Cherie Carl as new library director. Carl has been interim director since Alice Cooper left earlier this year.
"She was the most qualified and most enthusiastic candidate," said Library Board member Jim Russell (above with Carl) who headed the search for a new library director.
Carl has been moving forward with the library's latest project, a Mobile Library that will bring not only books and other media to county neighborhoods during stops, but also an internet connection to the immediate area.
"I'm really excited about that project," Carl told the board. She has been documenting the project by taking pictures as the vehicle, purchased in Missouri, is refurbished to meet the needs of Northumberland Public Library patrons.
"We're rolling her out, let's get her done."
